    Blue discoloration in tub
    Hi
What can I do about the blue color that's coming from
My tub faucet and turning the tub aorund the drain blue?
How can I get rid of the blue that's already there?
I took the spout off to figure out why it was leaking
And I noticed there is blue in the pipe coming from
The wall. It's plastic over the metal part. Been reading
Some other posts and have not tried the taping yet to
Stop leak but noticed this blue in the pipe coming from
    Wall. Any suggestions? Thanks
    Cindy

Pump or city water? As for your spout leak, If after tightening the set screw it leaks from the rear then you have rolled the "O" ring out of position. Go back and take it off. Put the "O" ring back in position and take a piece of sandpaper and smooth off the ridge on the front of the copper stubout. Bevel it down so it doesn't catch the "O" ring and roll mnit out of position. Now reinstall the spout. Better now? Regards, Tom

We've addressed the spout problem. Now let's see what's causing the blue water. Is it still coming out blue? All faucets? Hot, cold or both? Does running the water lessen the color? Any work done out in the street by the water department? I need all the details you can give me. Regards, Tom

Actually it's not that the water is blue; it's that there is a blue discoloration
In the tub around the drain. When took off the spout to try to fix the leak,
I could see bluish discoloration on the pipe inside also. It's only in the tub,
Not in the sinks. Thanks for you help.

I just finished a science project about why my tub is blue. The answer to your question is that your water is acidic and when it runs through your copper pipes, the water corrodes the copper and then runs into your bathtub. The water that is coming out is now acidic and it has copper in it. The acid and copper react with the oxygen and the air to form copper oxide also known verdigris. You should have your copper pipes checked because over time the acidic water will create holes in your pipes. Also if too much water gets in your drinking water it can be dangerous to your health.

Wrong. I have the cleanest water you can get. I have a $7,000 whole house water filtering system and I've had the water tested several times just to prove to myself that the system is as good as it's cracked up to be. It is.

I don't have any copper pipes and I have the bluish tint appearing every few months around the drain.

The guy that explained that it's actually coming from the tub and not the water is correct in his assessment.
