    Electric Load Calculation
    I have a Unit working at 6.5 Amps, 3 phase. I want to calculate the Power Consumption of the Unit. If I can get the formula by which the same is calculated.

    The Formula is the most important.

    I would be grateful, for a very quick reply.

    Regards

    Ujjval.

    When you say power, there are two types, true, and apparent.

    Which is that you are looking for?

    The power in a three-phase system is measured in volt-amps. The formula used to calculate the power involved is:
    .
    Volt-amps = Sq. root of 3 x voltage (volts) x current (amperes)
    .
    Assuming you use 3 phase 110 Volts :
    .
    VA = root of 110 x 110 x 110 x 6.5 = root of 8651500 = 2941 VA

    That is the wackiest explanation of a this formula I have ever seen.

    VA= SqRt of 3 * volts * amps

    VA = 1.73 * 110 * 6.5

    VA = 1236.95

    For this example.

    Althou, 110 volt 3 phase is very rare.

    what type of load resistive or capacitive or inductive to know the power factory
    which know as pf ( cosine the angle between phase current and phase voltage = cos fi)
    the load is divided into two parts
    1- active so, power = 3*current*phase voltage*cos fi P
    2- inactive so, power = 3*current*phase voltage*sin fi S
    overall power Q = Sq. root of( P^2+S^2)
