I have been through three (perhaps merely incompetent) plumbers recently on various different problems in the same bathroom recently. Perhaps someone knows something about this kind of problem.

I recently found a leak from the wall (next to the water meter) which is inside the bathroom of my flat. A tile was knocked out and the pipe section was replaced. Now it doesn't leak. Yeah! However, I also had a leaking faucet replaced in the same bathroom 2 days earlier. Oddly, the faucet only leaked at night, after 9PM, when coincidentally the hot water heater swithches on. Since the pipe was repaired, the new faucet leaks (almost in a stream of water ans still at 9) and the hot water heater leaks at the shut off valve. This one leaks all day long. The faucet is the one handle type. The hot water heater is an electric one that is fitted above the toilet.

My thought is that this problem is water pressure related. BTW, my building is about 100 years old but all of the plumbing in the flat was done 2 years ago. Cheers.

We need to know the brand name of your faucet. What is the water pressure entering your flat? Does it very? Get back to me. Tom

The brand is Kludi and the water pressure is consistent

I tried turning off the water main and opened the faucet but it still leaks. I did not shut off the water heater so the water must be coming from the water heater. The leaking is slow but steady. In one hour about 1 cup on the floor.

I should have asked what fixture is your faucet on? Why is it leaking on the floor instead of down the drain? Tom

You may need an expansion tank installed on the water heater.

Thank you for your replies to me questions. I have done some investigating and I forgot to mention that the water is going onto the floor because the water is leaking out of the side of the faucet onto the counter and then onto the floor. It is not leaking out of the spout into the sink. The faucet is brand new (installed last week) and is leaking the same way that the previous on was leaking. I am not certain what fixture the faucet is on. I will attach some pictures here. The type of water heater I have has a valve installed between where the cold water goes in and the water heater. There is a hose that runs from this valve into the toilet tank. I thought that maybe the valve here was stuck so I put some wire up into the valve opening and jiggled it open a bit so that some water ran out. The valve seems to be working OK. Of course, I don't know what is really going on inside there. An expansion tank sounds like a good idea to me right now but I think that this valve is supposed to serve the same function.
My next course of action is to ask a plumber to replace this valve. Any suggestions? Is this valve installed on the correct side or should it maybe go where the hot water comes out of the tank?

P 502 IA is printed on thefaucet right at the spout. Maybe this is it. I can't find any other markings on the fixture itself. Unfortunately we threw away the box.
