    Sexual intercourse after radioactive treatment
    Hi!

My boyfriend has Grave's disease and last week he got radioactive treatment. Since we are in a long distance relationship and I had to go with him to the treatment, right after taking in that radioactive pill or substance and was told to not to eat anything after 2 hours... after 3 hours, we were back in our hotel and had sexual intercourse...

WHat are the risks to it?

    Thanks!

I'm not a doctor or anything like that but I have had the same test done. I was injected with this radioactive liquid and told to stay away from people for a couple of hours and after having the test I was to stay away from little children and pregnant women for 2-3 days. This substance isn't strong enough so as to kill you or else your friend (and I) wouldn't be able to stand it either. Also, I would guess that his sperm wouldn't be strong or alive because of it (so getting pregnant wouldn't have been possible). It's not something that you would want to do all the time, though, (to come into contact with him too early after the treatment not just sex) but I believe that for just that one time you'll be fine. If by chance you become pregnant, you have to tell your doctor right away, though! It is dangerous to fetus'!
