Drain for washing machine overflows and backs up
I just bought a house and the washing machine drain overflows. Also the kitchen sink backs up as does the dishwasher. The bathroom sinks and toilets seem to drain fine as do the showers. There was some recent additions made to the house prior to my purchase of it. I rented a snake and ran 40 ft of line through the cleanout and encountered no clogs. Did I not go far enough? The opening for the drain hose is 42 inches from the floor. Is this too high? As this is my first home I would really appreciate any help you can give. Thanks.

What size drain pipe is at the washing machine? Which washing machine, and how old?
