99 Nissan Altima Check Engine Light
The Service Engine Soon light just came on in my 99 Altima. The brief history: I recently had a water pump go bad that led to a cracked head that led to the car being in the shop for a month. I got the car back, working fine, but took it for its yearly inspection. (at that time the light was NOT on.) It did not pass, it did not fail, the inspection could not be completed until the car had been driven for 250 miles at a variety of driving conditions: (stop and start, idle, interstate). It has been a little over a month, I have not been back for re-inspection. Could the Service Light coming on a month after the initial inspection try be linked to the incomplete inspection? The car runs like new since I got it back from the mechanic. All thoughts would be appreciated.

Yes, the light must be off.
