My only kind of period- Spotting
    I'm nearly 14.
I got my first period last December and usually it's only brown. It's heavy enough to be a period but it's always brown, when it begins sometimes red.
I'm around 100 pounds. Is this normal weight for my age? I'm very petit so I'd thought so, but I'm confused...
I rarely get cramps. No sickness or nausia or pain... just brown!
It would really help to know if there is something wrong or not because it makes me nervous. Other websites say vaginal infection, irregular periods, pre-pregnancy. But I'm a virgin, the brown period- or "spotting" is regular and if it's a vaginal infection how can I tell?

    Please help.
    Thanks.
    Jessie.

Jessie honey, this is very normal for a young girl with her first periods.

First periods, for the first year or so, are usually painless, consider yourself lucky if they stay this way. Brown blood is what is considered "old blood" meaning that this has been inside you for a while. Bright red bleeding can be considered a warning sign of several different disorders.

What you describe is perfectly normal for a girl your age. Don't stress over it. Things will most likely change as you get older.
