    Underground Water Pipe
I wish to run a water line from my house to the barn
Behind my house (approx 30 feet run). I live in Connecticut.

    A couple of questions:

    1) How deep do I have to lay this pipe?
    2) What type of pipe do I use- regular CPVC? Schedule 40?
    Pex? other?
    3) Do I have to cover the trench with something (concrete slabs, etc)
To stop any future picking from hitting the water pipe while digging?

    1) Beneath the frost line in your area.
    2) 3/4" Schedule # 40 PVC should do the trick
    3) if you're concerned you can mark the trench by covering it with cement but it seems a waste of time and material to me. Just when do you plan on digging down 4 or 5 feet into the ground to hit the water service line? Just remember the lines location. Good luck, Tom,
