How can I get over my elevator feer?
    Hi.

Well Thursday I have an appointment with my dentist but in order to see him I need to take a elevator ( DUN DUN DUN)

I have a sick fear of elevators and I have been panicking for a week...

I feel that its just going to get stuck and no one will come to help.

I don't want be trapped inside an elevator for 3 hours >.<
Im so claustrophobic and I don't know how I can over come my fear- I hate elevators so much!

I know I'm not alone on this one right?

    ::Edit::

Why do elevators get stuck? Is it likely to happen?

They get stuck because an electrical issue usually. The cords/supports would have to be under extreme weight or pressure to snap, it's not at all likely to happen, and there are many safety features nowadays (help phones, etc), and if it gets stuck, you just wait till they fix it, or turn the electricity back on or whatever. Just hold onto the rail and stand near the side of the elevator and count slowly while you're in the elevaor, it'll be okay. :)

I got stuck in an elevator once, in a hospital. I was visiting and the power went out. It took about 5 minutse for them to go and check and make sure everyone was okay and then get the power back on. It wasn't that bad, just kind of dark.

I got stuck for an hour and a half... but mine was a rather funny story...

We had a pharmacology test that day... we got stuck and one of the girls that was with us (there were 4 of us) had gas really bad...

Needless to say, the test was canceled... and the girl with us was able to hold it all in. LOL

Nah, I'm only scared of cockroaches and there were none on the elevator that day, well, unless you consider a dude who thinks he knows everything a cockroach. It was actually kind of exciting to me, but I am a strange bird really.

Hey, the test got canceled, what more could you ask for? LOL

Perhaps it will be helpful for you if you could use a cell phone to call your dentist when you get to the building before you get into the elevator. You could ask them to please check on the elevator if you are not in their office within five minutes!

Most people have more fear of the dentist than elevators, so they are used to people having fears. They should accommodate your request if you explain your situation to them.
You are a paying customer after all.

Also, by calling first you won't have to worry that no one will know where you are. Also most elevators have a call button or phone available to summon help if needed.

Haha that's always a happy ending- a canceled test!

And Ty Guyinohio, I didn't even think about that. That's a great idea!

    :)

Well... if it gets stuck... onlys only 1 floor up.. and.. I won't die :P

I need to get over my fear... because elevators will get stuck and I have to use them in life but you know it is still scary.

Hun, if it's only one floor up, why not take the stairs? I'm not afraid of elevators, but I use the opportunity for exercise.

Well.. The stairs are only used for an emergency.. im afraid to open and make the alarm go off lol!

Which makes no sense because the stairs in the hospital next door to it say fire emergency but you can use them
