    Rent increase
I live in Allentown Pa. I rent an apartment (there are 12 in the building). I received a notice today that the landlord is going to increase the rent as of feb 1st. My lease doesn't end until sept 1st. The notice also said that when our lease is up the rent will go up again. Everybody lease ends at different months. Can they increase my rent in the middle of the lease?

Unless your lease states otherwise, they cannot raise your rent until the lease expires.

Unless the lease gives them the right, normally no they can not change the money in mid lease.

You need to read the terms and conditions of your lease. Absent of a provision that allows for a rent increase during the lease term the terms and conditions of the lease (including the rent amount due) are set for the specific duration of the lease and changes are only permitted by mutual agreement. Pay specific attention to any clauses in the lease that may allow for a "utility" surcharge or allow the lessor to pay back increases they receive back to you.
