    My Dryer smells so bad!
My dryer when it is on has the worst smell I have ever smelled before its kind of hard to say what it smells like but it bad! It stinks up the whole house. We clean out the lint thing every time before we use it. Does anyone know what it might be?? The best way I can say what it smells like is like 3 day old fish in the sun! Ew Also it use to happen when the washer was on. Its is one unit with the washer on botton and dryer on top

It's not a burning smell is it? Have you washed the lint trap with soap and water? How about washing the inside of the dryer, where the clothes go? You can remove your vent hoses and replace them pretty easily and cheaply. If there is something stuck in the hose, that could be what's stinking whenever the dryer heats it up. Good luck!

What kind of smell? Could something like a field mouse have gotten up inside it and died?

    Em,

Sure critters can get inside and the hose and die, however, if it is only smelling when it is on, I would check the inside of the drum and make sure that there isn't any plastic melted to the side of the drum.

Plastic will generate a god awful smell almost the same as the odor added to natural gas.
