I purchased a 1000 watt RCA Audio Receiver RT2770 (Surround Sound) for our den (16x14).

I connected the wall DishNETWORK cable to the DVR Cable/Satelitte box. From the box I connected the Panasonic Color Video Projection System PT61HX40. The Panasonic DVD/CD player DVDRV31 was connected out using a cable w/ Red and Blue plugs (Red/Red and Blue/White) to the Audio/Video in TV connections. Does it matter what color the cable plugs are?

The main problem seems to be that I can't get but one FM channel on the tuner. I hooked up the AM loop antenna as directed. I found no instructions for the Pig Tail Antenna and have nothing that clearly is to hook up to the FM75 connection on the RCA tuner. I have placed the AM Loop antenna about 6 feet from the TV and 3 from the RCA tuner up as high as the line would reach. Can you help me to receive some more channels?

Truthfully, I thought the sound would be much louder than it is from the RCA Surround Speakers. We have the sound up to 42 and the max is 50 to hear it good in our small den. Is this all I should expect or is something possibly hooked up wrong? Should I return this RCA Receiver and buy another system?

I would appreciate any help you can give me. It took me only 9 hours to figure out the above, so as you can see I'm not the talented type when it comes to electronics.

You will need an FM antenna and hook to Coax(FM) input. An outdoor antenna with some height, and maybe a preamp, will give more channels than an indoor FM antenna.
The AM antenna antenna is meant for AM only. However an AM antenna hooked to FM input may work better than No FM antenna.
Do you have the Sat Audio out going into Receiver input?

The only antenna/cable we have in or out side is the dish Network.

There are two more sets of Audio/Video outlets on the Dish Network box, optical and an S-Video output free.

The RCA Receiver has two free audio in outlets, one coax input, and the FM 75 input free.

Looks like my only choice would be to find an FM antenna to fit the FM 75 input connection.

I connected the RCA L/R open audio inputs and L/R audio outputs on the Dish Network box and that didn't seem to help pick up any channels.

Funny I have an AM antenna and I can only pick up one AM channel when I select auto channel on the RCA Receiver.

What is the pig-tail antenna for? Any guess?

As far as the sound goes I guess I'm just spoiled by my old Panasonic 1980s system and BOSE speakers that would blow out the room.

The Pigtail? I think it a fm antenna especially if it has a push on F fitting.
I have installed many Antennas/Systems, Height and a good antenna and techniques, you can pick up many excellent stations. Don't know any FM off my Dish?
If you do get an outdoor antenna, if you don't need omni directional don't get it , especially if station you want to hear is distant.
If the red mark was and accident, you could leave a green and it may cancel. If not, don't worry about it.

I also purchased this system, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to attach the pigtail antenna! The directions/manual is not clear on this! Do I need to buy another connector to attach the pigtail to the fm 75 plug in?

There are 2 common inputs for FM, Twinlead(Balanced) or Coax(unbalanced).
You can adapt one type antenna to other type input on receiver with a Balun (BALlun/UNbalanced). It almost sounds like you mean the pushon f antenna?

If that Antenna came with stereo, it should push on. That does not look like "F".
Looks like a european? Style and may need an adapter.

I just looked there and could not find. I have a couple, but never needed them yet.

If you look just to the left of where you inserted the AM Loop you will find the FM antenna connection.

What you are describing as a pigtail is the antenna. Some manufactures use a "Y" type FM antenna. The two upper parts of the "Y" are spread out on the wall and secured to the wall. The remaining run of wire plugs right into the receptacle just to the left of the FM Loop.
