    Proper Response for a Boss
I am fairly new within my position and I didn't know exactly how to respond or if I should have responded at all to this comment.

My manager states that he knows that the accountants have to keep records for the shareholders and the government but he doesn't want them all up in his day to day business. He states he has been doing this long enough to know what he is doing and can't nobody else tell him how to do it better.

What is a tactful response besides he's being simple.

What is your company policy? Your manager may not be following company policy but I understand where you, being new, would not want to speak up and challenge him. I guess I would check policy and perform my job as policy states. Now, you can write that conversation down - date and time and details. Keep it in case you need it later.

Smile and keep your mouth shut, and then do your job as needed.

Agree with him, and tell him that the he and you want the same thing, to make sure that what he and his group do is accurately reflected in the financial reports.
