new Addition and A/C vent placing
    Hello

I am placing an add-on to my home. 513sqft, 35' x 15' I have one side of 35' wall with 5 large windows and the room is a valted ceiling. Iam placing an a/c to the addition from my exsisting air handler with a 10in duct and reduced to two 8in duct and vents that will be placing in the ceiling and a 4 in duct to a new closet. Question? Where is the best place and what direction should I place my vents in order to get the best cooling for the room. ( luvers towards to window, walls etc.. ) (vents high, low etc... ) I have 2.5 ton, that should be just enough for the added sqft.

    thank you

Yo`ll want the luvers towards the center of the room not blowing toward the windows, not totally understanding, did you say you was putting a 4 in. duct in a closet if so I would reconsider that, can`t see why you would need that,, also, not knowing how well the room is insulated, and the r-factor of the windows,, seems like 2.5 ton a/c is a bit much for a 513 sqft room,, you don`t want to over cool,, will cause problems, like mold -mildew,humidity problems,,

    Thank you

The 4in duct is going in the new walking closet that ic constructed into the new addition, the 2.5 ton unit is for the whole house and the new addition (513 sqft). So I should point the vent luvers towards the center of the room, the ceiling is a catheral ceiling.

The new addition will take 1 ton of cooling to say the least. The windows and high wall is really going to kill the cooling.
You want the vents to be placed under the windows to wash the wall with cooling since that is the location of the heat gain.
You do not cool a closet period.
What is the total sq ft of the house and what is your location?

The total house sqft is about 1200, the vents are to be placed in the ceiling, not under the windows, and I will not cool the closet, never thought about it, but now, I understand, why should I waste the air. I had planned to place my two vents close to the center of the room as possible. The total peak inside of the room is 11ft, I have attached the room design.

    Thanks
