    Maytag s/s not cooling - similar to csracing67 7/20/2007
My problems is the same as csracing67 - but I haven't got the crisper drawer fans to work. I have done everything else suggested - my coils in the freezer were nearly solid ice. I used a hair dryer to remove all the ice and dry it up. Put it back together and I have just plugged it back in to see if the freezer is still freezing. I did not have a problem with the freezer section just the refrigerator section. Thanks

Update: It has been about 1/2 hour since I plugged it back in - the crisper fans are working but the refrig side is not cooling down much. I haven't made ice yet. Will keep updating.

Update: It has been about 20 hours and it all seems to be working - the freezer is making ice, the refrig is cooling and the crisper drawers are in the 34-38 degree range. What would call the evaperator coils to freeze up? Could this be a bad defroster or defrost controller? And how do I check for this?

Also it the evaportator fan is not running up to full speed, low on refrigerant or dirty condensing coils and dirty condensing fan motor

How do I find and test the defroster?

Remove the back panel in the freezer compartment. In there is the defrost thermostat and the heater. Check for 120 volts at bimetal/thermostat and end of other circuit. You will also need to check for continunity but the power should be off for that test.
