    The landlord pays the taxes, I believe. Call the city officials and ask if you're not sure.

    Not familiar with what council taxes are, I know city, county and state property taxes but not council taxes

    So what does the rental agreement say, normally a renter just pays their rent, all other expenses including taxes are paid by the landlord

    I think council taxes are taxes in England that the locl citizens pay to the council or loca authority.

    I think the landlord pays it if you rent, but you should talk to the local authorities to be your.

    I hope someone from england will come back on this, I know their ownership and rentals differ, there can be a property owner, and then a leasehold owner that owns a lease. In those cases the leaseholder does have some taxes they pay from my limited understanding from watching home buying shows on TV
