    Pex to copper
I am going to have a humidifer installed on my furnace. The house is plumbed with Pex through out. I assumed that there would be a short piece of copper coming from the water heater, but there is not. I need a short piece of copper to mount a Saddle valve on to supply the water to the humidifer. I was thinking of sweating a end cap on a short piece of copper, and using Sharkbite T connecton. I am just a little nervous since I have never used this kind of connection before. Is there better way, I also hate saddle valves, but also don't know of a realistic way to connect the humidifer without one. Ideas.

I tried a Shark Bite tee once. It practically fell together and hasn't leaked. If starting near the hot water heater is reasonable, and the outlet has a union, I would be tempted to go with a threaded copper tee.

I'm assuming the pex lines feeding the H/W tank are 3/4", here.

Install a 3/4x1/2 sharkbite fitting before the H/W tank shut off and then a short piece of 1/2" copper tube with a 1/2x1/4 angle stop pre-installed on to it and then run a 1/4" braided ice maker supply to the humidifier connection.

    Piece of cake.
