    Long engagement?
My fiancé and I are engaged and we keep getting in arguments about how long our engagement should be. I would kind of like a longer one and he wants to get marries right away but there is still so much planning to still do and I don't know what to do!! Help?

I was in the same boat. I wanted a long engagement and he wanted to get married right away. We comprimised and we did between. Our engagement was just over a year long.

Why not compromise and meet each other halfway? Say you want a tear, he wants 2 months, wait like 6 months. Etc, etc.

What is the actual issue? Is it merely the length of the engagement or the time required to plan the wedding? It does take some time to plan a traditional wedding ; 4-6 months at least. If that's what you're shooting for then you'll have to set the date accordingly. On the other hand if you're stalling then I can see why he'd be upset.

Yeah I would say 6 months at the shortest to plan a nice wedding, and maybe a little longer, but if you just want to wait and wait I would see why it's frustrating to him, but he has to give you time to plan, so I can see why you need that time.

I want 8 months at least and I want a nice semi-big wedding around home where family and friends can attend but he want 2 months- go to veagas and get it out of the way.

Yeah you need to tell him that you want a nice wedding, it's a girl's dream you know? Tell him that you will try to hurry, but 2 months is not long enough and you don't think it's good to be married in vegas in some rinkydink chapel.

Then it's actually a question of what type of wedding you each want, not how long you should be engaged. I will say that the Vegas route is a lot easier and cheaper!

It's true that it may be cheaper and easier, but maybe she feels cheaper and easier getting married by elvis, you know?

    Compromise is the key.
