Freshwater means there shouldn't be salt in your fish tank...

1 tablespoon freshwater aquarium salt only per 5 gallons water.
Please remember that by using salt in your freshwater aquarium that you are raising the amount of dissolved minerals (the salt) in the water and once you add it, you must always use it unless you slowly adjust your fish back to regular water by adding less salt over a matter of a few water changes.
Also, the salt should only be used if you have soft water.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

You the first comment is wrong... sorry but the second is good. It is good to add aquarium salt to a freshwater tank... it can help with basic fish health, and can cure some fish ailments... now don't add too much salt but you freshwater doesn't mean no salt!!
