    Small Bump on Penis
Well, I'm 15 and I just noticed today that there is a small bump on the just start of the shaft of my penis. I'm not sure what it is and Im a little frightened. It's not red or white but it is painful if something touches it.

It may be a bug bite as I have had this before and it went away, but I'm still scared because it is in the same spot as it was the first time.

I'm kind of embarresed to go to my parents about it...

Can anyone give me an answer?

    And yes I'm a virgin

Maybe this web site will help you. Spots on the penis

Since you are a virgin I don't see any reason why it would or could be a STD. I would suggest that in the future, if you masturbate that you wash your hands first as it could be much like a pimple caused from a clogged hair follicle. Being that I am a woman I wouldn't know if it is normal but your dad would and you shouldn't be too embarrassed to talk to him, that's what dad's are for.

A pimple or clogged hair follicle is most likely. Guys get them all the time. Some guys (I'm told) have lots of bumps. It could be herpes but I doubt it. Even if you have never had sex with anyone, you could get herpes. If you had a fresh cold sore on your lip and touched it then touched your penis (or your girlfriend did) you could get herpes I (the cold sore version, not herpes II, the STD version) on your penis. It's rare but it can happen.

Sounds like an ingrown hair to me -- I use to get them all the time when I was a teenager.

I'd give it a few days before trying the following suggestion, just to be sure it is in fact an ingrown hair and not a cyst of some sort.

If the bump starts to resemble a pimple, a blackhead or a blood blister after a few days, then sterilize a needle with either flame or alcohol and pop it -- If you see dark blood or pus, then it's likely an ingrown hair, which means you are going to have to find the bent over hair and tweeze it out.

If the bump doesn't resemble the above description after a few days, then it's likely a cyst, which means you're going to have to swallow your pride and talk to your folks -- A Cyst 'down there' is nothing to mess around with and the sooner you identify it as such and treat it the better off you'll be.

I answered already but I need to clarify my answer. Yes, it could be herpes but I really, really, really don't think so. And if it is, it's herpes 1. Most people (80% I believe) have herpes 1.

It's easy for me to say because it's been a long time since I was 15, but you shouldn't be embarrassed to talk to your parents about it. It's a dermatology problem. A pimple is a pimple whether it's on your nose or your . Much better to have it where no one can see it.

    Possibly very correct above!

Sounds like a lot of guessing going on at this point and perhaps way too much information! Magicman4222, the best advice I think for you at this point, would be to please tell your parents about a bump that you found, and then go to a physician to have it checked out before you become more confused. None of us are physicians here. We can only make guesses as to what it might be. I also think that stonewilder's suggestion and support for you speaking with your dad about this is excellent!
