    Washing Machine water fountain
What should I do if the cold water is coming out of the handle of the spigot instead of the mouth when I hook up the washing machine hose and turn on the water? Older home has very narrow water line to the laundry area. Should probably install shut-off valves before the faucets too. Could someone give a step by step or should I call a plumber?

    Thanks,

    C

Typically a leak around the handle means the bonnet nut under the handle is loose. This bonnet nut must be tight enough to not leak but loose enough to be able to turn the handle.

I have added a image to Dougs answer. The bonnet packingnut's located on the stem just below the handle. Just follow Dougs advice an d you'll be fine. Tom
