How do you go about washing a cashmere sweater and keep its shape while drying it??
And is it okay to hang it up?

This not a beauty or skin care question, but I will answer your question. Most garments have care labels on them which tells you how to wash or care for your garments. But if you don't see a label, it is recommended that you dry-clean or hand wash cashmere. To hand wash cashmere, fill the sink with warm water and apply a small amount of gentle cleanser such as baby shampoo. Then put the sweater in the sink and swish it around for 5 minutes to let the cleanser soak through. Rinse the sweater with luke warm to remove all the cleanser or suds. Afterwards, gently squeeze the water out of your sweater and then lay it on a towel to dry. You can put another towel over it to remove the excess water and to speed drying process. This will help keep it's shape.
I wasn't sure what section to put this...
And thanks for the help!
I have used Woolite to wash such sweaters. I did buy one of those sweater dryers - it is a flat mesh screen type of device with little legs on it. Only one time did I ever hang a sweater. Learned fast not to do that one again.
What happens when you hang it?
Stretched out in places that it should not stretched. It was awful. And left marks where it was hung.
If you hang it wet it will stretch out of shape do not hang it at least until it is fully dry.
Lay it flat on a towel like Pretty lady said and make sure it doesn't have any weird shape or stretches.
It turns out that it is nylon... weird... It looks and feels like cashmere though...
You have to do basically the same with nylon it will stretch too.
Okay, thanks...
I was talking about hanging it up when dry though...
I have instructions posted at my website: How to Care For and Store Fine Sweaters and Woolens Eucalan is wonderful and leaves prtective lanolin and either lavender or eucalyptus in the sweater for protection from clothes moths. You don't even have to rinse - so it's eco-friendly, too!
