Received a letter saying I was being charged for a theft crime?
Got a letter in the mail saying I was involved in a theft and being charged. Even though I have not been involved in anything or arrested nor do I have any clue about what they are talking about. The letter just said that I was under investigation for a theft that happened and if I don't reply that will reflect my side of the situation before they press charges (who is pressing charges I'm not sure since it doesn't say)
. First the only the thing I can think of is I sold my car to two young guys about a month back and if they didn't get the title of the car switched right away then they did something in the car it would come back to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Don't they have to arrest me or pick me out of a line up or something before they can say hey this guy is guilty let's press charges. It says for me to go talk with them (which is what I plan on doing I just wanted some other advice or insight on this first) I edit video for professional athletes and I am constantly in and out of town and very busy if I don't get time to go down there can I really be arrested for something like this? Thanks in advance very much.
