I am trying to find out how to estimate what it should cost to have a painting contractor paint the exterior of my house. I'm in NC. Is there a formula for calculating this including labor and any extras they should charge. Are there extra charges for windows and stuff?:confused:

Many painters just look at the house and give a price. There are many variables like pressure washing,scraping,sanding,caulking,priming,Cost of coatings/paint, and of course painting.

There are formulas but each painter has his own way of doing things. The easiest way to estimate is to call the contractors in your area and have them give you a bid.
