I have a 1996 Eagle Vision ESI 3.5 and the "battery light" lights up on the dashboard. I have replaced the battery and had the alternator tested. Both are fine. Perhaps it's the voltage regulator. I have called part stores and no one seems to have the part available to purchase or even order. The car dies after the battery dies. What is causing this to happen? HELP!

Check the idle rpm. If it's too low, the battery light will go on.

My situation with my 96 vision (I have 3.3 engine) was that for years it would conck out in cold wheather. Then I would charge the battery over again , andit would be fine for a while. Is this your situation? But after years, same thing, I noticed the charging wasn't really taking. This all had began after I purchased a new batter for the car; I bought it second hand, but never had this prob earlier.

So, finally I took it to nappa auto and they tested the battery, and said it was fine, and alternator was too. But, then I took it to a store where truckers buy parts and get service, and as I was going to purchas a new battery (not second hand this time) they did a LONG check on the battery. Then in that process, they found out that one core was bad; as often can occur with a referbished they told me.

SO I spent about 80.american dollars on a brand new one, and the alternator is still good too. That was this summer. Now I wait for the cold wheather to come, and see if things run smoothly too.
