    Removing shower diverter?
Our shower was not working when the diverter knob was pulled -- the diverter pull did not luck in the "up" position and the water all still came out through the bath spout. This happened pretty suddenly. So I tried to remove they diverter to replace it. It is a kohler bath/shower with separate H/C knobs, and the diverter is on the spout -- the pull knob is directly over where the stream comes out of the spout. I think this assembly was installed in about 1992. Anyway, I can't get the diverter out, though in trying I did manage to pull off the knob, which was not what I had intended. There are no obvious places to unscrew anything -- no nuts or threads I can see. Thoughts?

    Hi Hal,

Because diverter spouts are so inexpensive we don't attampt to repair them.
There are two types of spouts , metal with a female threaded connection and chrome finish over high impact plastic that connects on a 1/2" copper stubout with a friction clamp. If you tell me what type you have I'll instruct you on how to change it out. Regards, Tom

I can't say for sure how the spout is connected, but its definitely metal, not chrome-on-plastic.

    Top O the morning Hal,
"i can't say for sure how the spout is connected, but its definitely metal, not chrome-on-plastic."

Your spout has 1/2" threads that screw on to a 1/2" male adapter. Simply unscrew it and replace the another diverter spout. Good luck, Tom

    Replacing shower diverter
OK... I have one to replace that looks much like the one in the small picture, however, the pull knob pulls "out from the faucet" rather than "up toward the ceiling".

Will this type be replaced in much the same manner?

Good morning Hal and Merry Xmas,

"Will this type be replaced in much the same manner?"
This will replaced in exactly the same manner. Unscrew the old spout, wrap the male threads with Teflon Tape and screw on the replacement spout.
Goodluck in the new year. Tom
