Engine service soon lighting while driving
I have 1998 Nissan Altima GXE with 100k mileage. Today the engine service soon sigh came on steadily and it does not go away. I drove to a car garage and ask for explanation
They told me that the mass air flow sensor is damage and should be changed.
It cost me around according to their estimation USD 455 with labor.
Please give me an advise what to do about it?
I'm now trying to get another option about this problem because it is not easy to
Get a truthful diagnose from one and only mechanic.

Thanks for your some and big advise. :

Here's how much it would cost, if you bought it yourself at Advance Auto Parts:

While we find your parts, please enter your ZIP Code at PartsAmerica.com

It's not a complex operation to install it yourself. I think their price is high. First, however, I would get a scanner or code reader and verify that your car is throwing a code that indicates the MAF Sensor is bad. Also, you may be able to buy a can of CRC MAF Sensor cleaner and spray the sensor yourself, eliminating the need to replace it at all. When they say it's damaged, what exactly do they mean? It may just be dirty and need cleaning.
