    Santa's Beard.
I've been coloring my beard to be Santa for about 10 yrs, mostly using running shoe color, or halloween spray "paint", both of which wash out with water. I'd like to permanently dye my red beard white, if possible for the Season.

I've had "advice" from a few well-wishers, but I don't have confidence in their opinion(s) which range from bleach, peroxide, salon hair care.. I really just want to portray a natural bearded Santa.. I've heard red hair can be hardest to dye, although I have a number of white ones starting to appear.. mostly in the chin area..

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks very much! Mike

Go to a professional hair salon

I would suggest bleaching the red out, since it may be hard to dye over it, and with bleached hair, you can always dye it another color later. ThenI would get a white toner to get rid of the yellowish tint. If you are going to bleach it and have no experience with that, go to a salon and have them help you, I would suggest.

If you want your red beard to be white, you will need to bleach it to pale yellow stage and then apply a white toner to achieve results. You should never go pass the yellow stage when bleaching your hair because it could damage or melt your hair. Hair bleaching is a difficult process to do yourself and should only be attempted by professionals. So your best bet is to go to a salon and get it professionally done.
