Coloring your hair at home by yourself can be disastrous. It's very tricky to lighten your hair without the unpleasant shades. If you want to go from dark to a decent light brown color, it's best to pre-lighten your hair and then deposit the selected color. And since you also want honey blonde tones, you may need to have some highlights put in your hair. You should get it professionally done. If you can't afford to go a salon, try going to a beauty school in your area. Most beauty schools have special offers and discounts that may fit your budget.
