    V-belt twisting
When ever I engage my auger on my Sears snowthrower, The V-Belt twists upsidedown and burns. I did just replace it to what I thought was the correct size. I was very tight to get on. Did I get a too small belt? Is this why it is twisting?:(

Not sure why the belt is twisting but you need to use OEM belts. Try Welcome to the Parts Store to insure you have the correct part. How was the thrower working prior to the new belt?

Seems like he/she wasn't happy with my answer and you gave him/her the same answer in a different named thread no less.

I just puchased it and the old belt was beyond reckognition. I am starting from scratch. I looked up in Sears Parts to get the belt size, it was not much help. Thanks for your help.

If you really wanted some help, you could have given us the model number.

If you want some hoops to jump through, you can try this. Bear in mind it's not recommended,

    Go here: http://www.daycoproducts.com/

Under Application and Lawn and Garden search for your Dayco belt.

Then locate a NAPA auto store. They may have the belt.

Another method is to go to the Big Box Store Lowe's. They have a belt cross reference by model number, but it's not comprehensive.

    By all means, report back.

Thanks, this is very helpful. And yes a model number would have helped. The blower is at my Son's home and he is getting it for me. Thanks to All!

OK, I got the model # 536.884810 and visited Sears.com for part number. I found that their part number translates to a 4L30 belt. I found this by adding it to cart. I can get the same belt for a lot less at an auto parts store. The Dayco number is L430. I thought this was the same belt size that I put on a month ago. Now it's burnt so bad I can not read the numbers. I picked up a new 4L30 belt and will try it all over again. Just for kicks, I am going to rotate the auger asembly to see if it is not binding up.

Any other suggestions are always welcome.

Thanks Guys and or Gals:) :D !
