    What is Romanticism?
    Hi guys!

Iwas just wondering if anybody out there knows what the word Romanticism really means? What makes an author a romantic writer and what distinguishes romanticism from realism?

I have an exam on this today and I'm really confused!
    Thanks for any help!:) :)

Romanticism was an 18th century kind of style of writing, painting, etc, it was based on feelings rather than the normal standards of society.

Here are two resources for you to use.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanticism

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=realism+writing+Wikipedia

As far as Realism, that almost appears to be a broader subject area than Romanticism concerning writing. When doing your searches, I would suggest defining more what you mean by Realism.
