I would like to relinquish all rights to a child. I live in New York State. How do I go about this?
First the reason you have not been getting any answers, you asked your question as an answer to someone else's. You need to always start a new topic ifyou want to ask a NEW question.
You do know that just giving up your rights, does not stop you from having to pay child support, all giving up your rights does, is stop you from seeing the child or having a say. If the other parent wishes to have a new partner adopt that would stop the child support.
But ifyou wish to give up your rights, you ask permission from the other parent, and go to court to have the judge sign that it is OK to do so.
Unless there is someone waiting to adopt the child in your place, you cannot relinquish your parental rights.
