QUESTION:

Like to know if an in-wall tank and bowel carrier system is a good system to use.
Geberit (Chicago Faucets) have one such unit. Any one have some experience with this unit.

Any recommended porcelain bowels that would be right for this unit.

This is a pricey set up. Are you roughed for a wall hung bowl?

I've installed a number of Geberit carriers over the years -- One crucial bit of advice;

Make sure you use *ALL* of the mounting hardware included with the carrier and use construction adhesive and 1/2" lag bolts to securely fasten the bottom plate of the wall the carrier is being installed in to the sub floor and the floor joists below.

Failure to do so can lead to rocking and mysterious squealing sounds.

As for the bowl, I'm partial to the ones manufactured by Duravit.

Questions:

In-Wall tank

Did you have any problems (or maintenance issues) with respect to the flushing system (hardware), the polyprop. Tank "cracking" or flushing "plate" (the plastic cover).

Bowel (since the bowel is cantilevered from the wall steel frame)

Did you have any problems with bowel sagging (due to too much weight)
Did you have any problems in tightening the nuts (without cracking bowel)

Other question:

Have you seen a wall system with "bladder" as the holding tank rather than rigid plastic tank? Is a bladder system considered a "power flush" system.

It's never been an issue -- As for the plastic flush mechanism, metal plates are also available in chrome and brushed nickel.

My only experience is with the Duravit bowls and there has never been an issue with one.

Only once, when I made the mistake of letting the contractor set the carrier instead of doing it myself -- Hence my earlier warning.

No -- If you follow the installation instructions to the letter in regards to how to determine just how much of the 5/8" rod to cut off, then the bowl is snug to the wall w/out being excessively tight.

I've never come across such an animal, then again, I'm not a huge fan of pressure assist water closets -- Too loud, too many moving parts and a major pain in the tukas to repair if something goes points up.
