Dear Sir/Madam,

We are a private family that would like to give our labrador dog (Bruce) the opportunity to become a father. Our dog is 3 years old, in excellent health and scores high marks for his hip and eye ratings.

We have during the past year placed advertisements in the local press and contacted a few breeders to no avail. The breeders that we have spoken to seem to be mainly interested in their own stud dogs and not wanting to help with requests from private owners.

It would be appreciated if you could let us have any relevant contact numbers in the UK, who may be able to assist. We live in the county of Buckinghamshire and would be prepared to travel a reasonable distance.

We are naturally only interested in contating reputable breeders that would have a genuine interest in helping our "Bruce" to at least father one litter. He has a very good pedigree.

We hope you will be able to provide some guidance.

Most of us here are more interested in discouraging breeding than anything else. At least in the US, we have no shortage of dogs for breeding.

labman, I don't think they have as huge a problem in the UK as we do in the U.S. That being said, Paul, labman is right. Most of the regular contributors here discourage breeding. Just as an FYI, most dogs don't miss "the opportunity to become a parent". They really don't know the difference. Especially males. Now, having the opportunity to have sex is a whole other matter. ;)
