    Closing costs
We closed on our new home on Dec. 1. There was an issue that came up at closing about the amount we needed to bring with us. The attorney's office gave us a number nearly $4,000 more the anticipated. Appparently this was the cost of the hud insurance(?) for one year. According to our loan paperwork though, it was to be included in our loan. So our closing continued as scheduled.
Today we received a call stating that the $4,000 above what we paid was NOT supposed to be in the loan and that we need to pay it. Our paperwork from the mortgage company states clearing that it is supposed to be included. We don't have an extra $4,000 (we are still paying out the rest of our lease from an apartment).

Who is responsible for this? Any suggestions?

Weren't you represented by an attorney at the closing? What does s/he say?

That's were the mistakes all took place, with the attorney. Now the mortgage co. is asking for a middle price , that the original number the attorney gave at closing that they said was in addition to the remaining deposit was actually the total number. In other words, we had a bad attorney. The check is being overnighted but the seller hasn't been paid yet and from what I'm told, it is within his right to sue.

Then sue your attorney for malpractice.
