    Lighting issue
All of the lights in one area of my house have stopped working. Strange thing is that all of the power outlets in the same area are still working. I have already checked the GFI switch and circuit breakers. Any ideas on what else it could be?

    Kim,

Okay, define not working? I'm going to guess that you mean ceiling lights

While your working on that, start at the main panel box and make sure all of the 15 Amp breakers are on. Sometimes, a breaker may trip and the lever does not make it all the way off. Make sure all the 15 amp breakers are solidly in the "On" position.

Next, start changing light bulbs along the circuit used by the breaker. You may have to replace several bulbs because one bulb may have flamed out, so to speak, and taken several other bulbs with it.

    Donf,
Thank you for the answer. The ceiling light switches are switched on but working. The fan in the washroom and garage door opener are also not working.

There is most likely a loose spice or connection in the circuit, This will require each box on the circuit to be opened and inspected for this loose connection.
