    Theft Under 5,000
I was recently arrested for theft under 5,000. It was an impulse mistake I showed extreme remorse and did not resist anything and went along with everything they asked 100%. I am of legal age in Canada and it is my first offence. I have no previous criminal record. I was wondering if anyone knows about applying for legal aid and what sort of sentence that I will face. The value of the items aprox.100 dollars. Thank you for your help. Any additional information on this subject would be great.

There are several similar threads here that you should read. The bottomline is you willprobably get a Diversion that means community service and your record cleared after probation.

Thank you for your advice. I do have a question that other threads did not answer. That is... I haven't been charged (the slip I received says not yet been charged) does that mean that when I travel in a month (before my fingerprinting date) that this can show up on anything? Or as of right now am I, the people I told, the police and loss recovery agent the only people that can/ and do know?

I can't answer that. An incident report may have been filed that may make its way into a database that would be checked before crossing borders.

The answer I am about to give you was directly told by my lawyer to me, U ll be able to travel, you ll be able to entry the Canadian Border if that is where your living, and no.. Nothing will show up on the record before your fingerprint appointment.
