    Carpeting over ABS Pipes
    Hi

I am planning on carpeting my basement which has 4 ABS pipes sticking out of the floor from the roughed-in plumbing. I would like to cut these off level with the floor so that I can carpet over it, but can't seem to find a product that I can insert in the pipe to seal it off. (I'd rather not have to chip the concrete around the pipes and put Quik-Caps on it - sounds like a lot of work).

    Any help would be appreciated.

Oatey makes a inside test cap for PVC and ABS that should seal off your pipes. Check it out at; Oatey Plumbing & Fixtures: Find, Compare, Read Reviews & Buy Online @ Yahoo! Shopping.
Or you could stuff rags down the pipes after they are cut to floor level and pour 1/2" of Quick Set Cement in the pipes. That way if you ever wished to use them you would just have to take a hammer and knock out the cement plug. Good luck, Tom
