I have an older 3 knob shower system- hot cold and a diverter than turns(not on the spout). When I turn on the hot and cold water a lot of water is coming out of the spout. When I turn the diverter for the shower the water pressure is somewhat light. From the amount of water coming out of the spout I think the shower pressure should be better. I took out the diverter and it looked clean and fault free. Is there a way to get more water pressure to the shower?

Have you removed the showerhead itself to check for gunk build-up - either in the screen where the water first comes into it - or the holes of the head itself?

If not, that's an easy thing to check first.

Yes... I have checked and it is all clear. Do diverters have gpm ratings?

The GPM for a diverter's the same as it is for the shower valve unless you have a water saver installed in the shower head. Pull the diverter out and check the opening to the shower raiser.

Not sure but what is the shower raiser and what might it look like? There is no water saver on the shower head itself.. took that out a while ago..

A shower raiser's the pipe that runs from the valve up th the shower head.
What I'm asking you to do is pull the diverter stem and washer and check the opening to the shower raiser and remove any crud that might be lurking in there. While you're at it , and you have the valve open, it might not be a bad idea to unscrew the shower head and blow through the chrome pipe to make sure the raiser's not clogged. Good luck, Tom
