There are three primary colours of light, red, green and blue.
We see something as a colour when tha colour is reflected and the others absorbed.
For example a green leaf absorbs red and blue and reflects green only.
If you reflect all three primary colours the object looks white.
If you absorb all colours the object appears black.

Have a think about what happens when you only shine one colour onto an object, whether it reflects or abosrbs that colour determine what you see.

Well I know that if an abject refects red light(making it look red), it absorbs all other colors except for red. So, if blue light was to be shone on the red rose, it would be black. However I also know that green leaves on a plant accually reflect other colors than green. It looks mostly green because more green light is being more reflected. So, chances are that there are other colors than just red reflecting off the rose, but the color red is being reflected more. So, you wouldn't be able to see the red under a blue light, but you might see other colors.
