Return on Medicare and Social Security
I have been living in US for 10 yrs. I plan to go back to India.

Is there any way I can get my Social Security and Medicare amount as a lumpsum before I go back.

    Thank

I don't think so. You can call the social security administration office and ask them about it. As far as I know, social security does not do any lump sum payments. If anyone finds out differently, I'd like to hear about it.

I don't think that you can withdraw any money from these two sources as a lump sum of any kind. They are available for retirement or disability purposes. I don't know your age, but if you have enough work history under the programs, you may be elligible when you do retire. I'm not sure how that works with other countries or non citizens, but I'm sure you can get answers from the agencies you mentioned.

If you have been working in the U.S. for TEN years, I believe you have met the minimum time requirement (40 calendar quarters in which you earned at least $250) to qualify for a Social Security check as early as age 62.

I suggest you contact the SSA and ask about that possibility. It never hurts to ask, and you may be in for a pleasant surprise when you hear the answer!
