80s Movie Title: involves Brothers Grimm
This is a movie I watched every year on the Disney channel as a kid, but I can't remember the name of it.

It was basically about the Brothers Grimm. They're on some kind of trip and decide to cut through some forest to get to wherever faster, only it turns out it's an enchanted forest, and they have a bunch of misadventures involving all of the fairy tales that they later became famous for writing. One brother was very proper and serious, and the other was fun-loving and reckless. During the movie, the brothers get separated after having an argument but eventually come together again after a few more misadventures. In one scene, one brother's captured by the witch from Hansel and Gretel. In another, the serious brother gets caught up in that fairy tale about the seven brothers getting turned into swans.

If you're not familiar with this particular fairy tale, there were seven brothers that became enchanted under some witch's spell, and the only one that could break it was their sister. She had to take a vow of silence and knit some kind of quilt that, once finished, could change the brothers back to normal. But one thing led to another, and she was forced to use the quilt before being able to finish it, so one of her brothers wasn't transformed completely back to normal: he ended up with a swan's wing permanantly as one of his arms. In the movie I'm referring to, this happens to the Grimm brother instead and he keeps the winged arm for a good portion of the movie.

So yeah, they eventually make it out of the forest, and then they go on to write about their adventures in a series of short stories later to be known as fairy tales.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I actually saw this movie when I was a young girl. It's call "The Wonderful World Of The Brothers Grimm"

It's a movie biography of the German fairy-tale collectors (Brothers Grimm), with reenactments of three of their stories.

I don't know, it doesn't look like the same thing. The movie I'm remembering seemed set in the 80s, not the 60s, but then it was a long time ago when I watched it. And there was more than three fairy tales that the brothers had experienced while lost in the enchanted woods. I'll have to rent the movie (if I can find it) to see if this is it.

chingutee: You describe exactly the movie I've been searching for. I recall no names, but do remember seeing one of the brothers, much later, as a guest start on Murder She Wrote. I haven't been able to find him to come up with his name yet - will continue my search and let you know if anything pans out, would sure appreciate if you'd drop a line if you've since found the title. Thanks and good luck!

    Hey JP:

I actually found the title of the movie a short time ago (I just emailed the Disney website, lol). It's called Once Upon a Brothers Grimm. :)
