    Stopped Birth control/No Period
I finished taking the last of my birth control pills back in June, I believe the last one was taken on the 15th. I haven't had a period since. I read online and also have begun to see my doctor. I know sometimes they say in some women it can take up to 3 - 6 months after your last period to finally get back on track. I am at the 6 month border currently. So far I've visited my doctor and have had an ovarian exam which indicated all looked normal and OK. My doctor then put me on prometrium to promote bleeding and hopefully get back on track. I took my last prometrium pill Nov 14th, it's 12 days and I still have not gotten my period. Most women get it 7 days after there last pill taken. My question is what would be my next step if I don't get my period on this medication. Where do I go from here. I also hear it can be dangerous to go that long without a period. I am a 25yr old women with no history of any sort of period issues or illness. I also have never had any children yet but want to very soon :( Thank you! :(

I am on Prometrium... I don't have a period unless I am on some type of medication to induce them.
Every woman is different, so don't worry yourself too much about what you read online as "the norm" because that may not be the norm for you.
After I take my last pill it is usually 2 weeks before I start a period... even then, it is hardly a period at all... more like spotting. But that's what my OBGYN considers my cycle.

At your doctors appt did they do blood work to check your hormone levels?

Are to trying to conceive now?

You could call your doctors office, and usually they have a nurse on duty that can answer your questions over the phone. Just ask them how long you should wait to start a period before you call them.

But like I said... it takes me at least 2 weeks before I start, after my last Prometrium pill.

Michelle thanks so much for responding back to my post. I am going to take your advice and wait it out. Everything just seems like a lifetime waiting. I have had blood work taken but It may have only been to determine if I was pregnant at the time. Not sure if they checked for harmome levels it was early on in the stages. My husband and I would love to start trying for kids but because of all this and no period were waiting for things to get back on track. I've also been informed that I am not ovulating, however I am producing eggs. Thanks again and trying to hang in there :(

Well I hope things work out for you :)

The Prometrium should get you on track, it just may take awhile... like I said, I don't have periods unless I am on Prometrium and even then it takes about 2 weeks for it to induce one for me and still, when I do finally start... its only spotting.
If it has been determined that you aren't ovulating your doctor will probably start you on Clomid too (thats what I am on because I don't ovulate). Clomid will induce ovulation... but you have to start those pills on day 3 of your cycle, so that is why they have probably started you on the Prometrium.

I take Prometrium every month, then when I start my period, I start the Clomid.

    Good luck!

Oh I'm sorry to hear that Jodie... I hope everything turns out okay.

I have figured out that if I take prenatal vitamins while taking my prometrium it increases my flow from spotting to a somewhat normal period. If you are trying to conceive, taking prenatal vitamins is great to do before hand anyway :)

Again, I hope everything turns out okay.
