How to change an A/C Fuse along side a compressor?
My A/C went down last night in Miami, :(
Its an American Standard (Trane) model 7B0017B100A0 - mfg'd 03/98, 1 phase 200/230 volts, 60hz. Recommended fuse is 15 15, max circ cap 11.0 amps
The breaker works but the compressor doesn't come on.. I thought that perhaps the fuse went and that would be a good start to see if it would run by changing it?

How easy is it to change the fuse?
I opened the electrical box and couldn't pull it open?
    How much is the fuse?
Any other possibilities other than the worst case scenario?

    Please advise?

    Thanks!

It's trivial to change the fuse. Turn off the circuit breaker. Open the disconnect box and pull the fuse holder. If you have an ohm meter, use it to check for an open fuse. If you find one, take the fuse holder down to your local hardware store and ask for a pair of matching fuses. Replace both fuses -- they're cheap (<$5).

If it's not a blown fuse, the next thing to look at is the starting capacitor.
