    Cheesecake for a dieter
    I'm on a diet as many of you well know... I'm a FATTY, lol. :eek:

    I am madly in love with cheesecake, but I stay away because I'd eat too much and it would be a disaster. :o

    I love to cook, my question is this:

    Do you have any low fat or fat free cheesecake recipes that YOU would recommend. I thought of searching Google, but I thought it would be better to get an idea from someone who has tasted the recipe that they would recommend to me... :p

    Go to the American Diabetes Association Web site you will find links for low fat low cal & sugar free recipes that, in most cases, are quite good. I have used many recipes found there and found them delicious.

    Artificial sweeteners actually make you gain weight and are bad for your health so any you do find D0N'T substitute the sugar for the artificial sweeteners. Aspartame Truth Information Site

    Try to use Xylitol or Stevia in the recipe instead, as they are NOT artificial sweeteners and they will not make you gain weight, they are sweet just like sugar and generally won't effect your blood sugar levels. We substitute Xylitol for sugar in almost everything (including homemade whipping cream, yum!) and I can't tell a difference. Hope this helps!

    I've found Stevia at Trader Joes or any place that offers Health Food, same with Xylitol. Xylitol (where my mom gets it) comes in bags kind of like Sugar, but they're usually plastic.

    I make one that is very simple. Just mix 1 tub of fat free cool whip with one package of low fat or fat free cream cheese and 1/3 cup sugar. Put it in a graham cracker crust or just eat it with a spoon. It's a little different but it satisfy's the cravings!

    That sounds like it would be more of a pudding pie than a cheesecake, does it come out with the same consistancy of cheesecake?

    It's more like a cream pie, not as thick or firm as a cheesecake, but very yummy. Plus it's no bake so it's ready to eat in about 5 minutes. In fact, all this talk about it is making me hungry...

    My wife and I use Splenda and have found that we can't tell it from sugar with the exception that it doesn't brown well.

    I have even substituted Splenda for sugar to macerate lemon slices in making Shaker Lemon Pie and had excellent success.

    The use of sugar substitutes is a necessity for us because I am diabetic.

    I think... get some lowfat sour cram.. low fat/no fat.. lowfat/nofat cream cheese... and work with what u got.. oh and lowfat.nofat ghramcrackers.


    WeightWatches has a few low fat desserts that are good... Ask about them next time your in the market

    Putting sour cream in cheese cake is gross...

    And yes it is fat... it's unhealthy.

    Oh that's how most cheesecake recipies I've read have... they use sour cream. Hoenstly, you can't taste it

    Well.. Yea its unhealthy but When I was a little porkster.. it was sad to say "Hey im fat" so I tried to be nicer to myself while losing weight.. now... I look gooood 8-) hahaha.

    Sorry no help here as my first cheesecake as a child made me ill. I ate too much evidently or maybe it was just bad, but I've never enjoyed it since. I love fruitcake though!
