    I have temporary custody of my 12 year old granchild.

    Do I have the right to go after back child support?

    Depends on how you got custody. Is it legal (through the Courts) custody? A lot depends on your legal standing in this matter.

    Is the back child support you are considering from the period when you had custody of the child or when you didn't have custody of the child? You cannot collect back child support if there was no child support order in place.
