    Hello imran:

It's impossible to tell. We weren't there. However, I suspect that you need more help than just your question answered, don't you?

Did you call the police? Did she get a ticket? Did YOU? Did you get her drivers license # and insurance information? Did you take pictures? Did you call YOUR insurance company? Did you call HER insurance company? Do you HAVE insurance? Does SHE HAVE insurance?

I can't really understand from your description what exactly happened. If you're not sure who's fault it was, it was probably your fault. If you were the one that got the ticket, it's probably your fault. If you hit her in the rear it's probably your fault. And assuming is almost never a good thing, especially that a driver of another car will wait on you.

I'm from the US. You don't get tickets in the UK?

    Hello again, imran:

A ticket is a driving citation issued by the police for breaking a driving law. I'm sure they have those over there. Did you get one??

You didn't call the police, did you?? If you want help about the accident, you need to answer my questions.

Are they demanding that you pay? Is THAT what's happening?? You need to spell it out!!

Yes, you are at fault - appears she got entirely in front of you before you hit her. That's not a case of not being sure if she was going to let you go first or not.

It's even easier: Traffic in the roundabout has right-of-way over traffic entering a roundabout. And traffic entering is required to yield to traffic in the roundabout. So this accident is definitely your fault.

First, this is a bulletin board, not a chat or IMs. You do not need to use chat speak here and we prefer that you don't.

Second, what Froggy said about roundabouts is true but, since you are in the UK where you drive on the opposite side, if the car was on your left, then it sounds like she may have been entering the roundabout, not you. On the other hand, if you hit her in the rear, she may have been enough ahead of you to have the right of way. So its hard to tell.

I'm sure the police in the UK issue citations for traffic violations. So it sounds like the police weren't called. So at this point, you need to just report it to your insurance and let them handle it.

Hi Imran, in the UK no matter what happened the fact is you hit her from the back, a shunt, it is always the person who hits the other car from behinds fault. There is no point trying to explain it, "she stopped to quickly" etc because they will always come back with, "you should have stopped sooner", "you shouldnt have been so close" etc. If you don't want it to effect your no claims I suggest you offer to pay for the damage, see if you can sort it out that way!
I am sorry but they will see you being at fault...
