We recently had a new bathroom fitted. A few weeks later we had a flood on the bathroom floor and discovered that the overflow had loosened. (Its one of these overflows which also controls the pop up plug, with a twist action). Th plumber came back and tightened it and all seemed well. It has again worked loose and water is pooring down the back of the rubber seal when a deep bath is run which covers the overflow. HELP?? Can this be fixed as our floor is wet yet again! Would some kind of sealant help or will the consealed side of the overflow need to be exposed yet again?

In "Bathtub 101" we learn to fill the tub to just UNDER the overflow, not OVER the overflow. This is learned right along side of "Potty Training" , "Don't Splash On The Floor" and "Rubber Ducky" issues.
You evidently failed "Bathtub 101". I hope you did better with "Potty Training".
To answer your question I would coat the face or the sponge rubber gasket with silicon jell and put lockwashers on the screws and crank everything down tight.

Thanks Tom. I don't fill it over overflow, however when I lay back and soak in the atmosphere the waterlevel occasonally levels the overflow. I will follow youtr advice. Oh, by the way very successful with 'potty training' but aren't you boys messy!!
