Looking for an 80s(I believe) Movie about a guy who dies playing chicken in the 1950s and is kept in limbo until asked to help a boy in his similar shape only to find out in the end it was his son

I'm sorry this isn't much help but I remember this movie also, I think the title was; My friend... (something; a guys' name I believe).. sorry, I cn't think of the rest.

I know the movie but can't remember name. Remember the son actor but not name right now. I will check. Oh actor last name Sedrick (the son of the ghost)

In the movie I was talking about, the teenage ghost went over a high cliff in his car and died. In the movie he takes the boy there towards the end of the movie.

Yeah and when ghost and boy are at the location at end of movie they are at bottom of cliff with the grey haired guy who is assigned to watch and take home young ghost on a harley.
