Sears Craftsman 11HP 38' Cut. Starting probs.
Ok well me and my dad are working on this mower and we bought a new solenoid for it we got it to click but... u know how on the key there is a on and a start? When we turn the key to on it starts for some weird reason when it should be the other way around. Any ideas?

Sounds to me that you have some of your ignition switch wires connect wrong. From what you say when you switch to on the starter engages but it would have to keep starting and never disengage, right?

Jason, you need to be back on the home page and click ask not answer. You can't be part of someone else's question, it confuses us old farts. www.sear.com for your manual, there is usually a decal of the belt diagram on the mower deck. The general shape and travel of the belt looks like an upside down letter T. The cross of the T is the baldes and tensioner pulleys, the end of the T leg is the engine pulley.

Yea do you know any wire diagrams or anything like that? Cause at first we couldn't get it to click but then we were messin with the wires to the solenoid and we got it to fire. But we're not sure were the wires go really haha. I'm kind of new at this and he mostly works on cars. Cause there's a red wire and a white wire and I'm not sure were they go to the solenoid.
If you could help I would really appreciate it thanks.

Go to the correct website KISS printed for us. You may get a wiring diagram if you have the model number of the tractor or engine.

*EDIT* I also forgot to say they the engine in it isn't the one that lets say... should be in it. Instead of it being a 11 hp it's a 12.5 hp briggs and stratton I believe I'm not sure if that would change anything or not.

Well, either you have wires crossed or the incorrect ignition switch. If that is the case, you could ruin diodes and cause major aggrevation.
